Lubbock venue presenting Texas music, large events, and country-dance programming.
About this room
Cook's Garage sits where U.S. 87 meets 114th Street on the south edge of Lubbock, and it started as a warehouse on a family business lot, a storage facility for a paving and roofing company. The Cook family, who grew up in Tahoka, turned it into a restaurant with music on the side in 2017, and it grew into a concert venue, car show ground and rodeo arena. What people see first is the signage: dozens of vintage oil company and service station signs on hand-built poles across the parking lot, and thousands more neon and porcelain signs inside. It books mostly country, with outdoor shows in warm weather and indoor shows in the restaurant.

Things you may not know
- The parking lot is organized by oil company sign. Roughly eighty signs stand on hand-built poles spaced evenly between more than a hundred striped spaces, which as one visitor noted makes it considerably easier to remember where you parked. Source
- The collection came together with help from a reality show: the signs came from all over the country and the owner credits American Pickers with some of the finds. Source
- There is a Piggly Wiggly sign in it, alongside the oil company and diner signage. Source
- The owner has dealt vintage since high school and once ran an antique store. Her line about it: she should have been born in a different time. Source
- Ice Cube and Nelly have both played a venue built around 1950s gas station signs. Most bookings are country; those two are not. Source
- It hosts rodeos and car shows on the same ground as the concerts, including a traditional car round-up that drew entries from Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Kansas. Source
- The signs were rescues - a visiting car writer noted the oil company signs over the lot had been saved from destruction rather than bought as decor. Source
