About this room
The Sons of Hermann, the same German mutual-aid order that built the Dallas hall in 1910-11, put up Freyburg Hall in 1912 on the prairie in southern Fayette County. Freyburg has a population of about sixty-nine and no downtown to speak of; the hall and the historic Methodist church are essentially the whole town. The Pettit family of Schulenburg owned it for many years, over which it went from a public gathering place to a private-event venue to partly abandoned. In late 2022 three Schulenburg men bought it - Cale Kobza, who grew up near it, and brothers Chip and Colton Bubela - restored it, and reopened it as a working dance hall.
