About this room

In January 1903, Frank Motl and J. F. Sefcik led the men of Seaton in forming an order of the SPJST, the Czech benevolent society. They named it Hvezda Texasu - the Texas Star Lodge, which is where Star Hall gets its name. The members met in Thomas Mikulastik's blacksmith shop and in the Seaton school before building their first lodge hall on this site in 1906, adding land and facilities over the years including a larger hall. The lodge has supported drama, gymnastics, traditional dance and choir programs, the Red Cross, youth groups and political rallies, and hosted dances, reunions, meetings and agricultural fairs. It still meets on the first Sunday of each month, still runs an annual picnic, and rents its hall and outdoor pavilion.
