Source-attributed background. On March 20, 1910 the Czechoslovak Cultural Club Pokrok voted to become an SPJST lodge and wrote to the Supreme Lodge for permission. They were granted number 86, later changed to 88, and held their first meeting on May 1, 1910 at Bruner Park. They rented the Clay Building for a dollar and a quarter a month. By February 1911 a committee had found two lots in the Studewood addition at $525, with a quarter off if they broke ground within three months. The lodge's second home was dedicated on February 10, 1935 on Robbie Street. In 1962 the membership voted to buy nine and a half acres on Beall Street; the third and current building was dedicated there on February 20, 1965, on a site that now runs to twelve and a half acres. It is still a working lodge, and still throws dances.
