About this room
The Lonesome Rose opened on the St. Mary's Strip on November 15, 2018, with a three-day grand opening. Nightlife operators Danny Delgado and Joey Cano conceived it, musician Garrett T. Capps came in as a partner and books the music, and Hillary Woodhouse handles the drinks. The Strip is San Antonio's oldest entertainment corridor and had been home to Taco Land and Salute; the Rose's contribution was to put a honky-tonk on it - two-stepping rather than a mosh pit, in a district built on punk and garage rock. It survived the pandemic on the strength of its backyard and several years of road construction on North St. Mary's, and marked five years in November 2023.
