Equipment and Workplace Safety
Prevent the cuts, burns, slips, strains and fires common to commercial kitchens.
Use guards, cut gloves where required and lockout practices.
Move, filter, clean and dispose of oil without improvisation.
Use dry protection and safe opening positions around heat.
Keep guards in place and disconnect power before clearing jams.
Treat spills, cords, mats and blocked aisles as immediate hazards.
Use team lifts, carts and body position to reduce strain.
Label chemicals and never mix products or store them near food.
Know alarms, exits, fuel shutoffs and when not to fight a fire.
Stop work, get help and document injuries promptly.
Recognize unsafe equipment and remove it from service.
