Floor Hosts and Dance-Night Leaders
Welcome people into the room without pretending hosting is teaching.
Floor hosts help newcomers understand the room, meet people, participate safely, and navigate the transition from lesson or observation into social dancing.
Core responsibilities
Make participation understandable and safer.
Welcome
Notice newcomers, explain what is happening, and offer information without pressure.
Orient
Explain floor direction, invitations, boundaries, lesson timing, and where to ask for help.
Connect
Make introductions and create low-pressure ways for people to join the social environment.
Observe
Watch for confusion, exclusion, unsafe traffic, boundary problems, and people who need venue staff.
Escalate
Know what belongs to the teacher, manager, door team, security, or emergency services.
Follow up
Capture recurring barriers and report them to the people responsible for changing the system.
