Part of the Flavor and Sensory school. Class 5 of 6.
The capability: you can handle a disagreement about a fault without anyone being wrong.
Prerequisites: Module 15.
The practice
Run a threshold test on the bar — the same compound at increasing concentrations, and each person notes where they first detect it.
Record the spread. It will be wide.
Then run a disagreement scenario deliberately: a sample near several people's threshold, tasted independently.
Then practice the resolution — build the reference, taste in a fixed order with a reset, insert a duplicate.
The reference
The concentration series, which makes the individual differences measurable rather than arguable.
What you are building
A framework for disagreement that does not require anyone to be wrong.
Detection thresholds differ substantially between people, per Module 15 — which means the person who detects a fault is perceiving something real and the person who does not is not being careless.
And the resolution rule: on faults, defer to the most sensitive detector. On balance preferences, the house standard governs.
Verification and boundary
The recorded spread, and a resolved disagreement.
Boundary: none specific.
