Part of the Texas Craft school. Class 1 of 6.
The capability: you can sell Texas whiskey honestly, including its trade-offs.
Prerequisites: Modules 18, 19.
The practice
Taste four Texas whiskeys and describe what each is delivering.
Then taste one against a Kentucky whiskey of similar profile.
Then practice the thermal cycling explanation until it fits in two sentences.
And find the mash bills where they are published, and note where they are not.
The reference
A comparable non-Texas product, which is what makes the difference describable rather than assertable.
What you are building
An explanation rather than a claim.
Texas matures fast and hot — large daily swings, long hot seasons, frequently metal-clad warehouses. Four years of that is more wood interaction than twelve years in a limestone rickhouse, per Module 18.
And the honest trade in both directions, including the higher angel's share — because a benefit stated without its cost is a marketing line rather than an explanation.
Verification and boundary
Deliver the explanation to a guest and have it land in two sentences.
Boundary: category standards and labeling are set by the the federal alcohol regulator, and sourcing should be disclosed accurately.
