Treat ice as an ingredient and thermal system.

Mechanism
Ice absorbs heat as it warms and melts, while meltwater dilutes the drink. Cooling and dilution are coupled. Wet ice has already lost cooling capacity and contributes surface water earlier. Train with a scale: weigh liquid before mixing and the strained drink after mixing; the mass gain approximates meltwater added.
Sensory standard
A balanced cold drink shows reduced ethanol heat and integrated sweetness/acidity while retaining intended aroma. Over-dilution tastes thin; under-dilution tastes hot and disjointed.

Service execution

Model answer: Starting liquid temperature, ice mass/condition and mass gain after mixing. Time alone is only a proxy.
