Class 5 — Texas Beer and Wine

Part of the Texas Craft school. Class 5 of 6.

The capability: you can speak to Texas producers on production rather than on story.

Prerequisites: Modules 26, 29.

The practice

Taste three Texas beers and describe them by malt, hop, and yeast contribution rather than by brewery narrative.

Then taste a Texas wine and place it in a style position.

Then learn one accurate sentence about each Texas producer on the listdescribing production rather than founding date.

And ask a representative about fermentation rather than about the barrel.

The reference

Comparable non-Texas products, and the style positions.

What you are building

Specificity, which is what separates advocacy from information.

A bartender who can say what a Texas product is doing has something to offer. One who repeats the story has repeated a story.

Verification and boundary

One accurate production sentence per Texas product on the list.

Boundary: nothing should be represented as a verified fact without checking.
