Lesson 2 — Converting Judgment to Checkable Cues

Part of the Workplace Trainer track. Lesson 2 of 10.

The sequence

Take each decision point.

Name the cue.

Make it checkable by someone who has not developed the judgment.

And state the almost-right.

The decisions

How specific to be. Not "wrap when it's ready" — wrap when a fingertip does not mark the bark.

Not "probe until tender" — probe the thickest part of the flat, not the point, and here is what no resistance feels like.

Whether to include the almost-right. Yes, and it is the highest-value part.

Nearly converted feels like an even mild drag the whole way in — which is thirty to ninety minutes short and it is the most common pull point in a pit room. Naming that sensation is what separates good from great.

Which is exactly what the Phase One sensory standards are, and this lesson is where they become training material.

What you are reading

Whether a trainee can use the cue without the judgment. That is the test of the conversion.

What goes wrong here

A cue that still requires the judgment it was supposed to replace.

And the almost-right omitted, which leaves the trainee unable to tell close from correct.

Verification

Give the cue to a trainee and watch whether they can act on it.

The boundary

None specific.
