Carbonated mixers

Carbonated mixers are active ingredients whose pressure, temperature, sugar and flavor determine the finished drink. Soda water, cola, root beer and energy drinks should not share one “top with mixer” standard because each carries a different level of sweetness, acidity and service risk.

Receiving, preparation and holding standard

  1. Receive cans, bottles and syrup boxes free of leaks, swelling and heat damage.
  2. Chill stock before loading the station and rotate first-expiring product forward.
  3. Open the mixer only after spirit, ice and noncarbonated ingredients are ready.
  4. Pour gently and integrate with one lift rather than repeated stirring.
  5. Discard flat open product according to the house limit instead of blending it into fresh stock.

Training and sign-off

Compare packaged soda water, fountain soda, cola, root beer and an energy drink at service temperature. The trainee must assess carbonation, sugar and flavor role, then build the same highball with fresh and intentionally flattened mixer to identify the failure threshold.
